In response to numerous complaints regarding faulty Chinese electricity meters, the concerned department has taken swift action by initiating a comprehensive replacement program, according to The Navbharat Times report. Presently, the Noida district has witnessed the successful replacement of over 5,000 malfunctioning electricity meters, marking a significant step towards resolving the issue.
The Navbharat Times report added that the Chief Engineer overseeing this operation has reassured residents that their concerns are being addressed with utmost seriousness. The department is committed to restoring the accuracy and reliability of electricity billing systems for all consumers in the Noida district. It has been decided that by October, a complete overhaul of electric meters throughout the district will be completed, ensuring that every meter meets the necessary quality and functionality standards.
The faulty Chinese electricity meters had resulted in incorrect billing for numerous consumers, prompting the authorities to prioritize their replacement. Among the 9,000 meters in the Noida district, a substantial portion lacked critical features such as reading optical data cable and MRI (Meter Reading Interface) capabilities.
