The brand has showcased multiple models in the video clip released for the COTB campaign

Yamaha, the Japanese automaker has been officially active in the Indian market since 1985. Over the years, the brand has sold a wide variety of models in the country covering multiple segments and various kinds of consumers. For a while, the brand even sold big bikes like the legendary R1, its enhanced track-spec version R1M, and the naked bike MT-09 among multiple other models. However, the big bike portfolio of the brand was eliminated because of a multitude of reasons. Now, the brand seems to be planning on bringing back its big guns in the Indian market via the CBU route. The hint for the same came through the easter eggs hidden in the latest "Call Of The Blue" (COTB) campaign video.
The Japanese manufacturer has showcased some of its bikes sold internationally in a two-minute video clip shared as part of the COTB campaign hinting at a probable launch in the Indian market. The list includes models like Yamaha YZF-R7, MT-09, XSR155, and Ténéré 700 in the range of motorcycles. Along with this, the brand might also introduce the Yamaha NMAX155 scooter.
The middle-weight sportbike Yamaha YZF-R7 is known for having a lightweight chassis designed using the brand's knowledge accumulated over the years from motorsports. It uses the brand's 698 cc liquid-cooled inline 2-cylinder engine. This power unit churns out 73.4 hp of power and 67 Nm of peak torque.
Along with the sportbike, the brand also had the naked street bike the Yamaha MT-09 in the video. The 2024 version of the bike comes with an 890 ccc liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder engine which gives out 117.3 hp and 93 Nm. The bike in this version gets the option of a Y-AMT variant which is an automated manual transmission that uses two actuators.
Moving apart from the sporty bikes, the automaker might also introduce the Yamaha Ténéré 700, an adventure bike. The machine is well-known for its design which represents the design of enduro bikes. Known for its off-roading capabilities, the bike uses the same 698 cc twin-cylinder engine used by the brand in the MT-07. Once launched in India, the brand might be priced under Rs 15 lakh.
In the entry-level segment, there is the Yamaha XSR155 which comes with a 155 cc engine. The Japanese manufacturer might also expand its range of scooters with the launch of the NMAX 155 scooter. Designed for commuting in the city, the maxi scooter will come with a 155 cc engine.
