The first of brand's EVs in India will be C10 electric SUVs

Stellantis, one of the world's biggest auto manufacturers, has announced its joint venture with China's Leapmotor. The partnership of both brands will introduce a host of electric vehicles into the global market. Along with plans of expansion in several European countries, the Chinese brand has revealed plans for its entry into the Indian market as well. The series of launches will start with two new EVs which will be introduced by the end of 2024.
The first models of the Amsterdam-based brand in India will be the T03 hatchback and C10 electric SUV. Besides India and Europe, the countries in the European region will include Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and Portugal. The brand will also enter various other markets including MENA, Africa, and Australasia. The partnership of the brands comes as Stellantis acquired 21 percent equity in Leapmotor in October 2023. This will be a major growth in the brand's journey after standing among the top 3 EV startups in China.
Currently, the upcoming Leapmotor models are undergoing the process of obtaining the homologation certificate. After this, sales will begin. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2024, Leapmotor International will expand into South America, the Middle East, Africa, India, and the Asia Pacific regions. It will enter the UK in March 2025.
The T03 hatchback is similar in size to the Tata Tiago EV and boasts a range of 265 km (WLTP). On the other hand, the C10 electric SUV is a five-seater and will rival the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and similar models in its category. Leapmotor claims that the C10 has a range of 420 km (WLTP) on a single charge and received a five-star score in the e-NCAP crash test. More products of the brand will be launched down the line.
