The MG Comet is the most affordable EV in the brand's portfolio

JSW Motor India recently introduced its Battery as a Service (BaaS) program with the launch of the new Windsor EV in the Indian market. This program aims to make electric vehicles more affordable by offering the battery in the electric vehicles under a subscription program. Now, the brand has covered the Comet EV and the ZS EV under the program because of which the brand has revised the prices of the vehicle making them more affordable.
For instance, the MG Comet EV will now be sold at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This price excludes the price of the battery for which the owners will have to pay Rs 2.5 km and under the new program. Similarly, the MG ZS EV will now start at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for which the battery can be rented at Rs 4.5 km. This is the nominal fees owners have to use the battery depending on the vehicle. It is worth noting that the prices of charging the vehicle are not included in the this.
Bringing down the initial acquisition cost of the electric vehicles of the brand, the program has made the Comet EV more affordable by around Rs 2 lakh while the ZS EV is not more affordable by around Rs 4.99 lakh. However, the brand is yet to announce the variant-wise pricing of the cars. The same goes for the Windsor EV as well.
This model, along with a 60 percent buyback option after three years, could increase customer confidence by providing a clear path for either selling or upgrading. The brand expects these efforts to be well-received by Indian customers seeking economical and future-ready solutions. Additionally, involving financial partners like Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Vidyut, and Ecofy Autovert ensures a wider reach and affordability, potentially making electric vehicles a more popular choice.
