New Delhi: The Right to Information Act of 2005 ensures that the government responds promptly to citizen requests for information, fostering clarity and transparency on diverse issues. This initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Personnel and Training within the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, aims to offer an RTI Portal Gateway. This platform enables citizens to swiftly access information regarding first Appellate Authorities, PIOs, and other pertinent details.
What Is RTI?
RTI stands for Right to Information. It is an act passed by the Indian Parliament in 2005, which empowers citizens of India to seek information from public authorities. The Act mandates transparency and accountability in the functioning of government institutions by allowing citizens to request information regarding government actions, decisions, and policies.
Under RTI, individuals can request information in writing, and the concerned authorities are required to respond within a specified time frame. RTI is a crucial tool for promoting transparency, combating corruption, and empowering citizens to actively participate in the democratic process by accessing information about government activities.
