New Delhi: Amid the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Air India on Friday cancelled all flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, the airline said in a statement. It further said that the company is monitoring the situation and is extending support to passengers who have confirmed passengers for travel to and from Tel Aviv during the period.
In its statement, Air India said, “We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers who have confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period, with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. We would like to reiterate that at Air India, the safety of our customers and crew remains top priority.”

Iran on Saturday launched over 300 drones and missiles in its first-ever direct attack on Israel. This came after Iran threatened retaliation following an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the death of seven people, including two high-ranking Iranian generals. Tehran labelled the attack as retaliation for what it called ‘Israeli crimes’. Meanwhile, Israel did not officially confirm nor deny its involvement in the strike.
Israel and Iran have been on a collision course throughout Israel’s six-month war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. The war erupted after Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two militant groups backed by Iran, carried out a devastating cross-border attack on Oct. 7 that killed 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped 250 others. An Israeli offensive in Gaza has caused widespread devastation and killed over 33,000 people, according to local health officials.
The Tata group-owned airline restarted its services to Tel Aviv on March 3 this year following a gap of around five months. The flights to and from Tel Aviv were suspended, starting October 7, 2023, after the Hamas attack on Israel.
