Narayana Murthy Grandson: Infosys co-founder and Billionaire Narayana Murthy's grand son Ekagrah Rohan Murty made headlines last month as Narayana Murthy, gifted him a generous amount of 15 lakh Infosys shares and made him a tiny tycoon, catapulting him into the millionaire club. Now, the infant has added another feather to his cap by pocketing an additional Rs 4.2 crore in the form of dividend income.

During the announcement of Infosys' Q4 numbers, the company also announced a total dividend of Rs 28 per share on Thursday. This dividend comprises a final dividend of Rs 20 and a special dividend of Rs 8. The record date for dividend payment has been set for May 31, with the distribution scheduled for July 1.

Ekagrah's Holdings and Estimated Dividend Income

Ekagrah Rohan Murty currently owns 15 lakh shares of Infosys, translating to a 0.04 per cent stake in the Bengaluru-based software services exporter. At the current market price of Rs 1,400 per share, the value of his holdings amounts to Rs 210 crore. Considering his long-term holding strategy, Ekagrah stands to earn a substantial dividend income of Rs 4.2 crore.
Ekagrah Rohan Murty was born to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, Rohan Murthy holds a PhD in computer science from Harvard University and oversees the Boston-headquartered software firm Soroco, and Aparna Krishnan, who leads Murty Media, NR Narayana Murthy, the legendary founder of Infosys, and his wife Sudha Murthy, who recently assumed the role of a Rajya Sabha MP, are his grandparents.
Ekagrah is the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy, who also have two other grandchildren - Krishna and Anoushka. Krishna and Anoushka are the daughters of Akshata Murty, who owns a 1.05 per cent stake in Infosys, and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Sudha Murthy holds a 0.93 per cent stake in Infosys, while Rohan Murthy possesses a 1.64 per cent stake.
Infosys, founded by NR Narayana Murthy and six other co-founders in 1981, has grown into a global powerhouse. Despite the departure of Ashok Arora in 1989, who relocated to the US, all the co-founders have achieved billionaire status, solidifying Infosys' enduring legacy in the tech industry.
