Jaunpur: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was beheaded by a neighbour on Wednesday with a sword in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district over a land dispute, the police said. The fight erupted over a piece of land in Kabiruddinpur village.
According to reports, the victim, Anurag Yadav, was brushing his teeth outside his house, when his neighbour allegedly beheaded him with a sword. After the incident, the accused fled from the spot.
Yadav was the only son of his parents. After the incident, tensions gripped the area. Senior police officers rushed to the incident spot. The police took the father of the accused into custody.
Superintendent of Police Dr Ajay Pal Sharma said that there was a land dispute going on between two neighbouring parties for 40 years, due to which the young man was murdered. A case has been registered into the matter. The police launched a manhunt operation to nab the accused.
Police Officials Statement:
Yadav was an intermediate student at Raj College and a skilled Taekwondo player. He had won a bronze medal in the Indo-Nepal International Taekwondo Competition in Chandauli and a silver medal in the Open Nationals in Noida.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav condemned the incident and alleged that there was no law and order left in the state.
"There is a strange contradictory relationship between today's government and crime. On one hand, both are together, on the other hand, the weaker and more inactive the government is becoming, the more powerful and active the criminals are becoming. Today's UP says we don't want BJP," Yadav said on X.
District Magistrate Dinesh Chandra assured of strict action against the accused. Notably, a case is pending in the civil court regarding the land dispute. Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue has been given to reponsibility to investigate the land dispute matter and submit the report in three days.
