New Delhi: Police arrested a 29-year-old man, his brother, and their associate for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to frame their rival by shooting himself in the leg, police said on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Waseem, his brother Fahim (32) and their associate Sahil (23). One country-made pistol has been recovered from their possession, police said, as per the PTI report.
On Thursday, there was a shooting in the Kardampuri area, and it was reported to the Jyoti Nagar police station in northeast Delhi. The person who got shot was taken to GTB Hospital by his brother.
"The police team reached the hospital and started an investigation into the matter. However, the victim didn't give his statement. Accordingly, a case under sections 307/34 IPC and relevant provisions of the Arms Act was registered,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey.
During the investigation, the police caught Bhura, and when they questioned him, he mentioned that he had been released from jail a few days ago.
"We later questioned the brother of the victim, Fahim, and it was revealed that they wanted to set a score with Bhura by implicating him in a false case. So, along with a friend, namely Sahil, he hatched a conspiracy and searched for a place that was out of CCTV camera range," said the DCP.
At around 9 p.m. on Thursday, these three people apparently stopped Bhura. Sahil grabbed Bhura from behind, and then Fahim supposedly gave his brother Waseem the homemade gun. Waseem then shot himself in the left leg with that gun and gave it back to Fahim. However, during the scuffle, Bhura managed to break free from Sahil's hold and ran away, according to the police.
"Later, they took the injured Waseem to GTB Hospital and made a PCR call on the way,” the officer said.
“The country-made pistol loaded with one empty cartridge was recovered from the possession of the accused, Fahim," Tirkey added.
