Delhi-NCR Rains: Cloudy Skies With Light Showers Expected Today-Check Weekly Forecast

Over the next seven days, Delhi can expect a generally cloudy sky with varying degrees of rain and occasional thunderstorms. Heavy rain in parts of the national capital on Tuesday caused waterlogging in key areas, disrupting traffic and making it difficult for commuters to reach their destinations.

  • New Delhi: Delhi-NCR residents greeted the day under a somber and overcast sky on Wednesday. According to the IMD, the forecast includes mostly cloudy skies with occasional light rain showers. Temperatures will range from a mild 26 degrees Celsius in the morning to a warm 34 degrees Celsius by the afternoon. July 10 will bring very light rain. July 11th and 12th will see light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. On the 13th, very light to light rain is expected. The 14th will have very light rain under a generally cloudy sky, and on the 15th, very light rain will continue. Wind directions will vary throughout the week, with speeds ranging from 8 to 20 kmph.

    Weather on Tuesday

    Heavy rain in parts of the national capital on Tuesday caused waterlogging in key areas. The Public Works Department (PWD) reported receiving 22 calls about waterlogging and around three to four complaints about uprooted trees by the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi received 11 calls regarding waterlogging and seven calls about fallen trees.
    The Spicejet airline said all departures and arrivals in Delhi and their consequential flights may get affected due to the bad weather and asked passengers to keep a cheque on their flight status.
    A sudden downpour, accompanied by wind, swept parts of Delhi, catching people off guard and causing waterlogging and traffic jams. Several other areas, such as Sangam Vihar, Devli, Greater Kailash, Kishanganj, and Mandoli, the stretch near the Civic Centre and outside Central Secretariat Metro Station, also got waterlogged after the rain.
    The weather office predicted rainfall in areas such as Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Akshardham, Vasant Vihar, Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, and Aya Nagar, among others, during the next two hours.
    Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP demanded that the AAP government call an all-party meeting within 24 hours on monsoon preparedness and desilting of drains after some parts of the national capital faced waterlogging following Tuesday's heavy rain.
