New Delhi: Delhi is facing a critical water shortage during this intense summer heatwave. It has become commonplace for residents to pursue water tankers across the national capital, while political accusations escalate once more. On Friday, AAP Minister Atishi began a "Satyagraha" to urge the Haryana government to increase water supply to Delhi. Additionally, she wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appealing for his intervention to swiftly resolve Delhi's water crisis.
Amid the ongoing political dispute between the AAP and the Centre over the water shortage, a viral video from 2015 features Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal blaming "tanker mafias" for the crisis in the national capital.
In the video, Kejriwal discusses Delhi's ability to produce sufficient water and attributes the woes faced by Delhiites to the activities of the tanker mafia.

In a 2015 video, the Delhi Chief Minister questions why there's a water shortage in the national capital despite producing ample drinking water daily. He points out, "84 crore gallons of water is produced in Delhi every day, while the population is 2 crore. That averages to 250 litres per person per day. So, why is there still a water shortage?"
He blames the water tanker mafia for this scarcity, suggesting that their illegal activities contribute to the problem faced by Delhi residents. He asserts that stopping this pilferage would eliminate water shortages in households.
Kejriwal then goes on to assure tough action against the mafia involved, noting, "The AAP Government will crackdown on these mafias selling water tankers at Rs 2,000 each. We will ensure the owners of these tanker companies and their political backers end up in Tihar jail because their actions create artificial shortages by stealing water."
