Tamil Nadu Government has announced half-day holiday for schools, colleges and educational institutions on October 30. Since holiday has been announced for October 31 and November 1, schools will now reopen on November 4.

The Tamil Nadu Government has declared a half-day holiday for schools, colleges and other educational institutes tomorrow, on October 30. The schools and colleges will observe half day holiday on the occassion of Diwali.
"Tamil Nadu Government announces half-day holiday for schools, colleges and educational institutions in Tamil Nadu on 30.10.2024, on the occasion of Diwali," news agency ANI Tweeted.
The government has already declared holiday on October 31 and November 1. Additional holiday of November 1 has been provided to allow additional time to people to travel to their hometown for celebrating diwali. Instead of November 1, schools, colleges and banks will remain open on November 9.
Tamil Nadu School Holiday on November 1
The day following Diwali will be observed as a state holiday; therefore, all schools, colleges, and government offices will be closed. The government hopes this additional holiday will provide them with more time to return home without being anxious about returning to work the very next day. All schools, colleges, coachings, and offices, including banks, will remain open on November 9. This was officially announced through a government release on October 19, 2024. The release reads, "The government has declared 9 November as a working day to make up for the holiday." To read more about it, click here.
Puducherry School Holiday Tomorrow
Puducherry schools will remain closed on October 30. Following the orders, all the schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed in the Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam regions of the Union Territory. The official order reads, "The Puducherry LG declares that Wednesday, 30th October, will be a holiday for all government offices, including Public Sector Undertakings and educational institutions (including professional colleges) in Puducherry, Karaikal, and Yanam on account of Deepavali Eve. November 16 (Saturday) will be a compensatory working day in lieu of this leave."
