Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans on Monday to establish a Skill University in the state aimed at enhancing the skills of young people to boost their employment prospects. Following discussions with officials and industry leaders regarding skill development, Reddy has requested a detailed report with proposals for the university's establishment to be submitted within one or two days, ahead of the budget session of the Assembly scheduled for the end of this month.
According to an official statement, the government will review the proposals and decide within 24 hours. During discussions between the Chief Minister and officials, plans were made to form a temporary board for the proposed Skill University.
The Chief Minister on Monday, held a meeting at the Engineering Staff College, Gachibowli, with representatives from various industrial sectors to discuss skill development. Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, and Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy also attended the session. During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought feedback and insights from officials and notable figures regarding the proposed establishment of the Skill University.
Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy proposed establishing a Skill University at the Engineering Staff College premises, citing its proximity to IT companies and other industries. He instructed officials to explore the feasibility of setting up the university there.
Discussions between the CM and officials also focused on forming a temporary board for Skill University, modeled after the ISB (International School of Business). The Chief Minister urged officials to prepare in advance a detailed plan outlining the university's courses, curriculum, industry requirements, and employment opportunities for young people.
