Lucknow: A chaos erupted during the rally of Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh on Tuesday where police personnel could be seen thrashing the people in the rally. The attendees are seen running from police as the leaders of the party try to calm the public from the stage.
The workers apparently engaged in a scuffle prompting police to resort to lathicharge disrupting the rally. The people jump over the wooden barrier, chairs are broken as chaos engulfs the rally ground.
This comes a day after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav left a public meeting in Prayagraj after a stampede-like situation occurred. The rally was being held for Uttar Pradesh's Phulpur constituency.
Reportedly, the Congress and SP workers got out of control during the rally and attempted to reach the stage.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday addressed a gathering in UP's Lalganj where he appealed to people to vote for the INDIA bloc in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
"This public support, enthusiasm is going to make Inspector Saroj ji win. The people of Azamgarh are going to make us win both the seats win, I also thank you for 22, you had made us win 10 out of 10 seats," he said.
"I have been watching the elections since the first phase, you see, by the time the elections reach the 7th phase, public anger will be on another level. Whatever strategy the people of BJP have made, this time the people of Uttar Pradesh have taught them a lesson. Have made up my mind," the former UP CM said.
He added that the BJP government, which has been running for the last 10 years, has been working with a strategy of loot and lies. "Tell me, they also took donations from the vaccine company and got the vaccine administered forcefully, now the vaccine has become a threat to life," he said.
The Samajwadi Party has fielded Inspector Saroj from the Lalganj Lok Sabha seat and Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh.
Both Lalganj and Azamgarh seats will vote during phase 6 on May 25. Five phases of the general elections have concluded and two more phases of polling will be held on May 25 and June 1. The results will be declared on June 4.
