Mahesh Bhatt Reshot THIS Film With Rekha After Parveen Babi’s Mental Health Struggles, BUT It Was Never Released

Mahesh Bhatt never shies away from putting his thoughts out there, whether it's about his personal life, his work, or something else. The veteran filmmaker recently shed light on his much-talked-about three-year relationship with none other than Parveen Babi. He recalled that he cast the actress in a film called Ab Meri Baari. But Mahesh had to replace Parveen following her mental health issues. It was Rekha who reshot the film, but unfortunately, the film was never released as it hit a roadblock due to monetary problems. Mahesh Bhatt on scrapping Ab Meri Baari

In an interview with Radio Nasha Official, Mahesh Bhatt spoke about his relationship with Parvin and said, "I was in a relationship with her, and when you are with someone, you want to spend time with them. I wanted to make the film Ab Meri Baari. The movie was supposed to feature Dev Anand, Rishi Kapoor, Tina Ambani, and also Praveen Babi. During the shooting of the film, she had a mental (health) episode, got sick, and the film was stopped. Then we took Rekha Ji and reshot it, but because of a lack of finance, it couldn’t be completed.”

Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi started seeing each other, reportedly in 1977. Before Mahesh, the actress was in a relationship with Kabir Bedi. After Mahesh and Parveen's romance began, the director left his wife, Lorraine Bright (known as Kiran Bhatt), and their daughter, Pooja Bhatt. However, their tumultuous romance came to an end soon due to Parveen's mental health issues.

For the unversed, Parveen fought against paranoid schizophrenia. She had to leave his personal life and live the final years of her life in isolation, way far from all the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry.
