Mahima Chaudhry Recalls Thinking Of 'Other Career Options' After 67 Glass Pieces Bruised Her Face Post Accident

Mahima Chaudhry recently opened up about a life-changing accident from her initial days in Bollywood, which left both her personal and professional life shaken. While shooting Dil Kya Kare, Mahima faced a horrific car crash, and it was not until she looked in the mirror that she realised the severity of her injuries. In her recent interview, Mahima opened up about her accident and also shared that she was thinking of other career options due to the severe incident.

Mahima Chaudhry recalls horrific incident

In an interview with Radio Nasha, Mahima revealed, “At first, I didn’t realise how many cuts were on my face. I only found out after seeing myself in the bathroom mirror. Before that, I was ready to continue the shoot, telling Prakash (Jha), ‘Let’s go ahead.’ But he stopped me, suggesting we talk dates instead. When I finally saw my reflection, I realised the extent of the damage.” Shockingly, 67 glass pieces had to be removed from her face.

Fearing for her career, Mahima pleaded with Ajay Devgn and Prakash Jha to keep the incident under wraps. She praised the team for respecting her request, and the story stayed hidden for two decades. “When Ajay and Prakash (Jha) returned, my first instinct was to say, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this.’ I wanted to see if I could salvage my career. It’s amazing that no one from the production ever leaked the story. 20 years later, when I finally shared it, that’s when people found out,” she recounted.

However, things took a harsh turn when a film magazine secretly snapped a picture of her and cruelly dubbed her "scarface." Mahima also recalled walking away from a project with Satish Kaushik and Anil Kapoor, hiding her scars by pretending she had a foot injury. The pressure was immense, especially with one of her eyes still smaller than the other post-surgery. “That time was so tough. I was so young, and I didn’t think I’d recover,” she shared.

Mahima revealed how Ajay Devgn reassured her that she’d heal after surgeries, but she remained doubtful. “Ajay used to say that after surgeries, it would all be fine but I didn’t believe it. I was thinking of other career options. Even today, my one eye is smaller than the other. Back then, it was very stressful. I never faced the camera straight. I would always angle my face a bit,” she said.
