Rajkummar Rao Comments On Kabir Singh's Slap Scene: I Wouldn't Be Able To Do It

Rajkummar Rao said he wouldn't have been comfortable doing a scene like the one in Kabir Singh where Shahid Kapoor's character slaps Kiara Advani's character. He would have had many talks with the director about changing the scene.

Rajkummar on what he wouldn't do onscreen

While talking to HT City's Stars on August 13, Rajkummar shared his thoughts on what he wouldn't do in a film. He said, "Actually, it would be very hard for me to slap a girl in a scene. I wouldn't be able to do it." When asked about the movie Kabir Singh, he replied, "Yeah, maybe I would have had a lot of discussions with my director about this scene. Unless it's like something which you cannot CANNOT live without, you know your character just cannot live without, it's like breathing that has to be there… I would get into a big debate with my director."

Ranveer Singh was first choice for Kabir Singh

Casting for the movie Kabir Singh was difficult. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga revealed in an interview, that Ranveer Singh was first offered the role, but he turned it down because it was too intense. Shahid Kapoor took the role instead and enjoyed playing a character that wasn't likable. Some scenes in the movie, like when Kabir slaps Preeti, were controversial and divided the audience's opinion.

Rajkumar's Stree 2

Rajkummar Rao might not be suitable for a role like Kabir Singh, but fans would love to see him play a character with a mix of good and bad traits. He's open to playing such a role in the future. For now, he's busy promoting his new movie Stree 2, a horror-comedy sequel of Stree (2018) with a great cast, including Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee.

Rajkummar's upcoming projects

Rajkummar and Manushi Chhillar will star together in a new movie directed by Pulkit, starting production in September 2024. This film will be Rajkummar's first action movie, where he'll play a gangster role, and it's expected to be an entertaining, action-packed commercial film.
