Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in lead roles is one of the most highly-anticipated movies slated to release next year. After Ranbir Kapoor's Animal avatar, people can't wait to see him in Ramayana. However, according to reports, the Nitesh Tiwari directorial's shooting has been put on hold for now due to a copyright infringement case. Even after the change in production hands and after Madhu Mantena's departure, the film did not find a new direction. Some reports suggest that Mantena has requested a halt in filming until he receives compensation.

Ramayana Shoot Halted Due To Copyright

The Ramayana team resumed shooting in Film City last week after a brief pause due to the reworking of the costumes. According to a Mid-day report, an insider revealed that the shooting is currently at a halt due to a copyright infringement case. The source said, "The shooting continued for a few days after the notice, but has been on hold since last week. The matter has to be resolved legally, and filming will only resume when a consensus on the matter is reached."

Shooting To Commence In 2 Weeks

A few sources however assert that the film has not been caned and said, "There are date-related issues that need to be addressed since Ranbir is expected to start [Sanjay Leela] Bhansali's project later this year, and Sunny will move on to filming Border 2. Shooting will be scheduled in such a way that their absence doesn't hamper the project. It will be shot in two parts, with the second edition eyeing a release date six months after the first part hits screens."
In Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Ranbir Kapoor will take on the role as Lord Ram while Sai Pallavi will portray the role of Sita. Yash is all set to play Ravana and according to reports, Sunny Deol will play Lord Hanuman. The film is expected to have a Diwali 2025 release.
