During her appearance on No Filter Neha vodcast, Rashmika defended criticism against Animal after many called it mysogynistic. She said, "He (Rannvijay) is messed in the head and will go to any lengths for his father, that was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. Nobody can do anything about it, it’s his story. If you want films to be raw, real and correct, Animal is that. After watching it, to say it’s misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it.”
Animal also starred Anil Kapoor, Saurabh Sachdeva, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, and had Bobby Deol playing the main antagonist. Rashmika played Ranbir's onscreen wife in the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial. While the film had a long run at the box office, it triggered a loud debate around the depiction of masculinity and infedility in a marriage.
