The Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge star recently became the first Indian to snag the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera at the mega event, honouring his outstanding contributions to cinema. During the festival, King Khan dropped a bombshell—his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, has secured the rights to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 cinematic marvel Devdas, which stars icons like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Jackie Shroff.

This exciting news was revealed just before a special screening of the film, and SRK couldn’t hide his excitement about owning the rights. “We brought Devdas back home to Red Chillies, and I couldn’t be prouder,” he shared with a smile.

Reflecting on the challenges of bringing such an epic love story to life, Shah Rukh opened up about the intense pressure of following in the footsteps of the legendary Dilip Kumar, who had previously brought Devdas to life on screen. Despite scepticism from many who felt the role wasn’t a fit for his typical “pop culture” image, Shah Rukh Khan felt a deep personal connection to the project, driven by the memory of his mother, who adored the story.

The Kal Ho Naa Ho star didn’t shy away from discussing the film’s massive scale, recalling the financial hurdles and delays that came with creating one of India’s most expensive movies at the time. The production was nothing short of extravagant, requiring a whopping 90 generators just to achieve the perfect lighting. The lavish costumes and sets, the grandeur, the drama—it all contributed to the film's majestic feel.

SRK also opened up about the practical challenges on the set of Devdas while shooting for the film, particularly the struggle of managing the traditional dhoti-kurta. With a chuckle, he confessed to using a zipper as a creative fix to prevent wardrobe mishaps—a move that might not have been traditional but was absolutely necessary.
