Trade Talk: Pushpa 2 The Rule Postponed, Gets Replaced For Independence Day With Akshay Kumar Comedy

Akshay Kumar, despite recent box office flops, is set to release his third film of 2024, Sarfira, on July 12, a remake of Soorarai Pottru. Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, will now release on August 15, replacing Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's Pushpa 2, which is delayed for extensive post-production work.

Trade Talk: Pushpa 2 Postponed, Gets Replaced For Republic Day With Akshay Kumar Comedy

Akshay Kumar who has had an unbroken string of box office disasters during the last five years, the latest and perhaps the worst being Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (a desi Bad Boys with nothing good about it), is ready to treat his fans with yet another film, his third release for 2024. Alarmingly, Akshay has another release Sarfira coming up on July 12. It is a remake of Sudha's Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. This is total of three releases in six months for Akshay Kumar in 2024.
Interestingly, Khel Khel Mein (don’t even think of the Rishi Kapoor musical blockbuster from the 1970s) directed by Mudassar Aziz whose track record boasts of no eruptions of genius, will replace the much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule that was to earlier release on August 15 this year.

Multiple sources have confirmed that the makers of Pushpa have resolved to spend more time in the post-production to make the sequel even bigger than the first Pushpa film, hence the delay.
To have in its place a seemingly shoddy fly-by-night comedy from Akshay Kumar (his third this year, we reiterate, and his second release in a month) is to add insult to injury for the agog fans of the Pushpa franchise.
