'Hannah Montana' Miley Cyrus Becomes Youngest Recipient Of Disney Legend Award At D23

Famous as the fictional character of pop singer Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus has achieved two big honours this year. Earlier, she won her first Grammy award and now, has also been named a Disney Legend at D23 event at the age of 31, recognizing her success in both music and her Disney roots.

Miley Receives Award With Thirteen Others

On August 11, Miley Cyrus was honoured as a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, alongside 13 other notable individuals. The group included famous actors Angela Bassett, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Harrison Ford, as well as creative professionals like costume designer Colleen Atwood, Marvel comic artist Steve Ditko, animator Mark Henn, and Imagineer Joe Rohde etc.

Grammy winner Lainey Wilson performed a lively version of The Best of Both Worlds before introducing Miley Cyrus at the event, praising her for being fearless, authentic, and strong, saying, "Miley, I want to thank you for never being afraid to step outside the box, always staying true to yourself, and most importantly, always kicking butt."

Cyrus thanked with tears in her eyes after the introduction and said, "I’m gonna let everybody get on a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know. And what I want to say, is that legends get scared, too. I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway, and all of you can do that every single day. It’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway. There is no such thing as failure when you try." She further added while remembering the casting for Hannah Montana, "In 2005, Disney was on a mission to rebuild the company. That’s why they hired Bob Iger, and me."

Miley Cyrus expressed her pride in her Hannah Montana roots, dedicating her award to the character and her fans, saying: "I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana," and thanking everyone who made her dream come true, adding, "To quote the legend herself, 'This is the life'."
