Challenging Star Darshan

The apex body of the Kannada film industry, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), will meet today to take a decision on actor Darshan, who has been detained by the Bengaluru police along with several others in connection with a murder case.
The Kannada film industry, barring a few individuals, had remained largely silent on the issue of the actor being detained by the Bengaluru police along with several others in connection with the murder of an individual identified as Renuka Swamy.
However, with the public outcry against the star becoming louder and considering the fact that he has been repeatedly getting involved in controversies, the Kannada film industry is likely to take a firm stand this time around.

Official Meeting

Speaking to media persons, Umesh Banakar, president of producer's assciation, said that the Kannada film industry had always condemned such acts and added that the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) would be officially meeting today, June 13, at 4 pm to discuss the matter pertaining to Darshan.
It is learnt that the film body is likely to discuss the possibility of imposing a ban on the actor from the industry. Sources say that Darshan’s multiple controversies from the past along with the present serious nature of the case will be discussed at the meeting. Members from the Artistes association and other wings of the body will be attending the all-important meet in the evening.
Actor and politician Ramya was among the first to react to Darshan’s detention in the murder. She reposted a tweet on X that called for action against the actor in accordance with the law.

The Devil

Meanwhile, doubts have emerged if Devil, the latest film of Darshan to go on floors, will release as scheduled for Christmas this year.
With Darshan being detained in connection with a murder case, sources in the industry say that there are chances of the project going into cold storage until the actor’s name is cleared in the matter following due process of law.
