Former Member of Parliament, actor and filmmaker Ramya is known for not mincing her words when it comes to expressing her opinion, especially in matters concerning public at large. Her reaction to Challenging Star Darshan’s detention in connection with the Renuka Swamy murder case is a case in point.

Social Media Abuzz About Darshan

The Kannada film industry and die-hard fans of Challenging star Darshan woke up to a shocker on Tuesday, June 11.
Soon after the Bengaluru police detained Darshan and his friend Pavitra Gowda along with 11 others in the Renuka Swamy murder case, social media platforms were flooded with posts relating to the actor. While a majority demanded strict action against the actor if he was found guilty, a section of mostly die-hard fans of the actor came out in support of him, saying their favourite actor was just being questioned and that they were sure that he would come out clean.

The Repost By Ramya

Among several pro and against views on social media, Ramya reposted a post on X about Darshan. This post has now caught the attention of netizens.
Ramya chose to repost a tweet put out by another handle that went by the name, Karnataka Box Office. The tweet put out by Karnataka Box Office read, “Under Section 302, Actor Darshan is most likely to either get life imprisonment or a sentence. Any other outcome would be a case of money influence & mockery of the Indian Law System. Hope the victim gets the justice he deserves.” Ramya’s decision to repost this tweet has drawn a lot of attention with many praising her and some reacting to it negatively.
Ramya shared the screen with Darshan in the Kannada movie Dattha released in 2006. The film was directed by Chi Guru Dutt. She also featured in Jothe Jotheyali, directed by Dinakar Thoogudeepa, the younger brother of Darshan. It was produced by Meena Thoogudeepa, mother of Challenging Star Darshan under the banner of Thoogudeepa Productions.
