SEVENTEEN Makes History As UNESCO's First-Ever Goodwill Ambassador For Youth

In a landmark development, SEVENTEEN has been announced as the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth. The group are the first K-pop act to have even been appointed in this role.

SEVENTEEN appointed UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador For Youth

On June 11, UNESCO announced that SEVENTEEN would be appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for Youth on June 26. With this, the 13-member group will make history as the UNESCO's first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth. SEVENTEEN's appointment as ambassadors follows their key participation in the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum in November 2023, where the group highlighted the importance of youth solidarity and action.
Expressing her happiness at the partnership, UNESCO's director-general Audrey Azoulay said, "SEVENTEEN and UNESCO share the same commitment to empowering young people to drive change and address the challenges of our century. They also inspire and support young people around the world with their music and positive energy. Following several successful joint actions, I wanted our partnership to take on even greater strategic importance. On June 26, I will be delighted to welcome the 13 members of the group into the family of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors."
Prior to their appointment as ambassadors, back in 2022, SEVENTEEN had launched the #GoingTogether initiative in collaboration with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. The initiative helped establish new educational centers in Timor-Leste and provide educational aid in Malawi.
