In a recent interview with a radio channel, Premalu star Mamitha Baiju spoke about the way in which director Bala treated her while on the sets of Vanangaan. Mamitha Baiju's response

On Tuesday, Mamitha Baiju took to her Instagram to say “I would like to clarify that the news being circulated online regarding my involvement with a Tamil film is absolutely baseless. An excerpt from a film promotion interview has been taken out of context and is being clearly misquoted.”
She further said, “I have worked with Bala Sir for close to a year including pre-production and production of the film. He has always been kind enough to help me become a better actor. I would like to reiterate that I have not experienced any mental or physical harm or any other sort of abusive behaviour during my work on that film.”
She concluded by saying, “I opted out of that film later on, only because of other professional commitments."

About Mamitha Baiju's controversial statement

In the viral video clip which was doing the rounds on social media, Mamitha is seen saying, "I had to learn to play a particular musical instrument. So, the director told me, 'You watch a musician play it and replicate it'. When I tried on day one, I didn't get it, it took me three attempts. Director Bala would scold me and even playfully pat me. Suriya sir knows this style of working but I didn't."
It may be recalled that director Bala who is known for showing realism in his films, had come under criticism for his alleged rough treatment of actors. In 2022, director Bala announced that actor Suriya and his production house 2D Entertainment had backed out of Vanangaan. The film now stars Arun Vijay in the lead.
