New Release Date Of Manju Warrier's Footage Announced!

We had reported earlier when the makers of Malayalam actor Manju Warrier's upcoming film Footage announced that the film had been postponed because of the torrential rains affecting various parts of Kerala, which have also led to multiple landslides and loss of lives in the district of Wayanad. On August 11, Sunday, the film's team took to their social media to announce that the film would now be hitting theatres worldwide on August 23.

The announcement was made through the film’s official social media handles, which was also shared by various cast and crew members, with the makers stating the new release date.

The trailer of the film was released online recently. The trailer features a montage of multiple POV shots of the characters played by Vishakh Nair and Gayathri Ashok to a soulful, melodic track by the indie band Aswekeepsearching, who have also scored the background music and songs for the entire film. The trailer features Manju Warrier's character only in a quick glimpse, still not revealing the part she plays in the film.

Footage will be Malayalam cinema’s first ‘found-footage’ movie, which makes use of videos recorded by the characters and used as 'found' material to narrate a story. A popular example of this is the Hollywood classic The Blair Witch Project, and the first part of the Ragini MMS series of shorts. Footage also marks popular film editor Saiju Sreedharan's debut as a filmmaker. Saiju is best known for his work in Kumbalangi Nights, Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25, and Anjaam Pathiraa, among others.

A First Look poster of the film was released in February 2024, and created quite a lot of frenzy online because of its sexually suggestive nature, and many confused Gayathri Ashok, who appeared in the poster embracing Vishakh Nair, to be Manju Warrier.
