About Yudhra

Who doesn’t enjoy a classic angry young man-style movie? Well, Bollywood has revolutionised this in the ‘80s and ‘90s. But now, the new generation of the angry man breed is unique. Yudhra belongs to the clan. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malavika Mohanan, Raghav Juyal, Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, Raj Arjun and Shilpa Shukla, the Ravi Udyawar directorial has all the masala required to make a palatable actioner.

Yudhra Movie Review: Plot

One night, after attending a high-profile party for the police and other dignitaries, Girish (Saurabh Gokhale) and his pregnant wife meet with an alleged road accident and lose their lives. However, the lone survivor is their son, Yudhra (Siddhant Chaturvedi) who is adopted by Kartik Rathore (Gajraj Rao). Born with anger issues due to the accident’s trauma, he goes rogue at a young age. As Yudhra grows up, his notoriousness has no bounds.
Rehman (Ram Kapoor), a cop and a friend of Girish, recommends giving his anger a direction by enrolling him for military training. All of this is just to bust a drug racket. Firoz (Raj Arjun) and Shafiq (Raghav Juyal) are Yudhra’s enemies. But are they the real threat to him? Watch the film to find out!

Yudhra Movie Review: Direction

Ravi Udyawar, who directed Sridevi’s Mom in 2017, has a better grip on action sequences and drama. The parent-child equation could have been developed more but he balances with the relentless drama and action. He understands the need for a sharp conflict to strengthen a revenge saga's foundation. It is rare to see nail-biting scenes between the antagonist and the protagonist. Staying true to this cinema genre, Ravi goes satisfactorily unhinged in presenting his characters coated in shades of grey. His direction can draw attention to the screen.

Yudhra Movie Review: Story and screenplay

Yudhra comes to the main plot point without much ado. The screenplay is pacy, engaging and unexpected. The major twist is predictable but the constant tease never dulls the film. The core highlight of Yudhra is its action. After Kill, the stunts and bloodshed in this film shoot the bar high. The action choreography is swift, clean and jaw-dropping. It’s a bloodbath at intervals, but who’s complaining? Such deliciously menacing characters acing slick stunts are the best treat to the audience.
The story of Yudhra is quite familiar but the presentation and production make it bigger and better. The lollipop aspect is interesting and adds a fresh flavour to the film. Watch it to understand.

Yudhra Movie Review: Performances

Siddhant Chaturvedi is born as the next action hero. Adding a new dimension to his career, the actor takes every complex scene by his stride and delivers a fantastic performance. Expressing through his eyes, Siddhant channels his inner beast for Yudhra and It works in his favour.
Raghav Juyal cements his position as the star antagonist of Indian cinema. While recovering from the impact he created in Kill, the actor hits the ball out of the park once again. He carries Shafiq’s abstract mannerisms with an effortless ease. It’s a remarkable character that pulls off a nose pin and femininity confidently.
Malavika Mohanan performs well. She plays Nikhat, the daughter of Rehman and Yudhra’s school friend turned girlfriend. The actress shines particularly when she is required to use her intelligence, agility and bravery.
Ram Kapoor is lovable and dependable as always. Gajraj Rao adds flavours to the action thriller with his charismatic screen presence. Raj Arjun lives upto the expectations and is menacing as Firoz. Shilpa Shukla makes an impact despite having a brief screen space.

Yudhra Movie Review: Verdict

Yudhra is dark, delicious and daring in its approach. Despite familiarity, the film is engaging and tout. It’s the birth of two new action superstars – Siddhant and Raghav!
