Nindha is set in a village called Kandrakota where a young girl (Manju) is murdered. All evidence of the heinous crime seems to point towards fellow villager Balaraju (Chhatrapati Shekhar). Police arrest him and subsequently the judge Satyanandam (Tanikella Bharani) sentences him to death. Later, as Satyanandam nears retirement, he learns that Balaraju is innocent. The agony of pronouncing a wrong judgment haunts him. He eventually confesses it to his son Vivek (Varun Sandesh), who is an officer with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Nindha Review A Decent Crime Investigation Thriller
A Still From The Film

About Nindha

Analysis

Rajesh Jagannadham's Nindha digs into the labyrinth of personal and professional hurdles that surround a probe in a brutal murder case. The director has chosen a character-driven narrative to tell the story of how important it is to protect the innocent yet punish the guilty. Actor Varun Sandesh plays an NHRC officer who finds it a challenge to connect the dots and nab the true culprit. The plot is an intriguing one but the inconsistencies in writing mars the film.
Nindha doesn’t take off immediately. The screenplay, specially in the first half, doesn't help us invest our emotions in the journey of the central character. There is no drastic transition in the tone of the film when Vivek is determined to nab the culprit. As the film progresses, it picks up pace and the audience have their engaging moments.
Rajesh's directorial skills are on display as the film creates the required curiosity, drama, and mystery while maintaining a crisp storyline. One of the impressive aspects of Nindha is the honest storytelling. The director has not fallen prey to the typical masala fare – inserting unnecessary special songs and duet numbers. He has focused on the principal characters and the plot without deviating much.
The identity of the murderer remains a suspense till the end – almost like the whodunit genre. But the climactic sequences, however, answer all our questions with an interesting twist. The writing has its own glitches. The protagonist's decision to kidnap five key witnesses and grill them without revealing their identities isn’t convincing and looks exaggerated.
Suspense thrillers always have the audience on the edge-of-the-seats when there’s consistency in writing and the characters drive the narrative. But sluggish narration significantly detracts from this story's potential.
While the film suffers from writing and pacing issues, the director manages to extract good performances from his cast. Varun Sandesh is honest in his role as an NHRC officer! The film is like a comeback of sorts for him. Also, the realistic performances by the other cast enhances the film several fold.
On the technical side, the film looks rich. Cinematography is something that's pretty in tune with the story despite the plot cliches. The director has managed to get the ideal cast and the story right, and has executed it well to the best of his ability. But with better scripting, Nindha could have been an engrossing experience.

Verdict

Overall, Nindha is a decent attempt if you are a fan of crime investigation thrillers.
