About Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 Review: After Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) finally confessed their feelings for one another in the third season of Bridgerton, Netflix cruelly made us wait nearly a month to find out what happens next. The second half deals with Penelope invited into the Bridgerton clan and the rest of London society in competition with another to uncover who is the person behind Lady Whistledown. This part of the season also involves showrunner Jess Brownell setting up the stories for future seasons to come. Juggling several characters and their romances, Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 gives its fans exactly what they want.

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 Review: Plot

Penelope and Colin finally get together with an engagement. But Penelope's former best friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) warns her that her secret life as Lady Whistledown will impede her upcoming marriage to Colin. When Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) announces she will pay 5,000 pounds to whoever unmasks the gossip queen, the challenge is accepted in unexpected ways. Elsewhere, Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) finds love with Earl of Kilmartin (Victor Alli) and Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) have some happy news to share. But there is much afoot in other possible pairings as well.

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 Review: Writing and Direction

Based on Julia Quinn's fourth novel in the Bridgerton series, the series deviates a bit from the source material, especially when setting up the stories for the next set of siblings' romances. Once again, like part one, with so many characters and only four episodes, it is hard for everyone to receive their dues. But there are moments of joy with returning and future pairs, and lighter moments involving the Featheringtons. But the heart of Bridgerton has always been about romance, and this season, the friends-to-lovers story of Penelope and Colin is given proper focus, and the book fans should be happy. Unlike last season's disastrous love triangle which dragged on until the very last episode.

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 Review: Performances

More than Newton, Coughlan is the real star of this second part. She steps up as the former wallflower of society who reclaims her identity. Dodd's quiet Francesca is a delight to watch, especially with the exciting changes for her season as well. Luke Thompson's Benedict is also one to watch out for. The rest of the supporting cast from Bailey, Ashley, Rosheuvel, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh do their part to back the lead pair Coughlan and Newton.

Bridgerton Season 3: Critique

While the third season is quite satisfying for period romance buffs, and those who enjoy a bit of escapism, the series ends with a little less drama. The main couple has little obstacles to overcome except for a secret which is dealt with summarily. However, this show has always been about the coming together of one big happy family and this season is no exception. And now, we rewatch all the seasons again until the next Bridgerton love story with Season 4.
