Zindaginama review
About ?Zindaginama Review
The World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10 annually to raise awareness. SonyLIV’s new anthology, Zindaginama addresses the trauma and gives hope. Produced by Applause Entertainment along with AntiMatter Production, the anthology stars Priya Bapat, Shruti Seth, Shweta Basu Prasad, Shreyas Talpade, Prajakta Koli and Yashaswini Dayama among others and has released today.
Zindaginama Review: Six stories of hope
Zindaginama has six stories of breaking the stigma attached to mental health issues. Normalising approaching a therapist and seeking help at the right time, the anthology sensitively sheds light on topics like Eating Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and more.
Zindaginama tells the vision of six filmmakers through Bhanwar (Aditya Sarpotdar), Swagatam (Sukriti Tyagi), One+One (Mitakshara Kumar), Caged (Danny Mamik), Puppet Show (Rakhee Sandilya) and Purple Duniya (Sahaan).
Zindaginama Review: Hope, not formulaic solutions
Mental health is an important topic to discuss. Not all filmmakers and stories have been successful in telling heart-piecing narratives. Zindaginama breaks it. The anthology is like a warm reassuring hug that everything is going to be alright and scattered pieces of the heart and mind will fall back in the right place to complete a happy picture called life. Instead of glorifying pain and trauma, it focuses on portraying reality no matter how dark it is.
While some tales in Zindaginama could be categorised as haunting and disturbing, there’s a ray of positivity at the end of the tunnel. Powered by incredible actors and visionary filmmakers, this anthology offers a new and fresh perspective on mental health. There’s no fixed conclusion to the stories, no tried-and-tested solution to a problem.
Zindaginama Review: Verdict
Zindaginama is poignant. It can’t be a therapist, but certain acts are like good friends who listen to your unsaid feelings. This is a subtle and sensitive anthology that should be watched. However, some stories do get underwhelming and are restricted to being cinematically present instead of mentally and physically. The closest and hard-hitting film is Bhanwar. The rest are good but a few inches away from reality.
