In Bad Cop, which streams weekly on Thursdays on Disney+ Hotstar, Gulshan Devaiah plays Arjun, who must take his twin's place for a bit. Instead of being on the run from the cops, the con man has to become one of them. In an interview with Zoom, the actor revealed how his character Karan is still figuring this out in the series and what he struggled with during action scenes.

With Bad Cop, Gulshan once again reunited with his Commando 3 director Aditya Datt. When Arjun has to become Karan the police officer, the actor mined those scenes for a bit of comedy as well. He told Zoom about tackling scenes playing a police officer, "[At] one point. Arjun has no idea; he has to make up things as he goes along. He never imagined that he would be in a situation where he'd have to impersonate his brother. That makes my job easy because once I accept that as Arjun's reality then I don't have to do anything much. Because even if I am doing something wrong, he's not supposed to get certain things right. It also gave me a lot of scope to create moments of humour, like my salute, where's my desk, where do I sit? How do I drink my tea? Things like that..."

Gulshan reveals why he struggled with Bad Cop's action scenes

In the series, Arjun has to also figure out why the gangster Kazbe, played by Anurag Kashyap, is after his brother Karan. There are shootouts, chases and explosions in the exciting action scenes in Bad Cop. Stating that he was "terribly underprepared" for the action, Gulshan shared that he wasn't an athlete off set even though he enjoyed playing sports. He remarked, "I have a surgically operated knee, I've got a bad back, and my name doesn't start with Vidyut and end with Jammwal. Neither does my name start with Tiger and end with Shroff."
He went on to say, "It was difficult because I just don't have the endurance. It's not really about body type. That's not it for me. It just requires a certain amount of physical endurance which you have to develop over many years of practice. I can't bring that in two months. That's the thing I struggled with most, otherwise the choreography and the actual action were quite fun."
However, whatever fights and violence viewers see through Bad Cop, they aren't as gory as other series. Gulshan stated, "It's all hyper realism, it's amped up. The volume is little louder... which is why I'm saying that Indian audiences are conditioned to this sort of a thing, being entertained.”
Bad Cop also stars Harleen Sethi, Aishwarya Sushmita and Saurabh Sachdeva. The action thriller premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on June 21.
