In the series Raat Jawaan Hai, created by Khyati Anand, Avinash and his friends Radhika (Anjali Anand) and Suman (Priya Bapat) tackle ordinary and not-so ordinary problems in life. He also spoke about the strong friendship that is depicted in Raat Jawaan Hai.
Barun Sobti on why he chose Raat Jawaan Hai
Speaking with Zoom, Barun shared that he was deliberating looking for something lighter after Rakshak and Kohrra when Raat Jawaan Hai came his way. He said, "I think the OTT whole industry was getting way too serious and intense with respect to whodunnits and thrillers and stuff like that, all dramatic. This was the absolute right break with that respect I felt on this show. I actually felt pretty lucky to be honest with you."Raat Jawaan Hai is directed by Sumeet Vyas. While on the surface, it might feel like it's a story about parenthood, the actor revealed that the show is more about three friends who have known each other for a long time and live close to each other. They also celebrated big life events like marriage and parenthood around the same time. Barun said of the main characters, "The trio is actually pretty dysfunctional and justifiably so because such old friends actually become the logic and things go out of the window when you've been friends for so long. They depend on each other for small, weird, stupid things also."

Radhika, Suman, and Avinash's friendship may be dysfunctional, but it's also adorable and enviable, according to the actor. Barun shared audiences will find the show relevant, heartwarming, and a little dramatic. The actors were all on the same page in getting the mood right for the show.Barun said, "Both the girls are absolutely amazing as human beings and actors. But I think it was also this hunger for getting the creative right. Deep down inside, all three of us probably understood that the whole fulcrum of the show is going to be the camaraderie between these three."
He added there was a lot of laughter on the sets, "We actually behaved like kids. Humne toh bahut bada show nikal diya honestly bachpana karte karte." Raat Jawaan Hai premieres on SonyLIV on October 11.
