Real Life Weight Loss Story: Lexi Reed is known to inspire multiple generations through her weight loss journey. The fitness influencer has lost more than 136 kgs in a time span of 8 years. Like every journey has its ups and downs, so did Lexi's. She gained 40 kgs again last year after being diagnosed with calciphylaxis. The rare disease “completely turned my life upside down & made me question how strong that I truly was," Lexi wrote in a post.
For those who don't know, Calciphylaxis is a rare disease that causes calcium deposits to build up in the blood vessels of fat and tissue. Lexi's journey has continued to inspire many people. Recently she took to her official Instagram handle and shared an emotional video telling the audience that she weighed her "lowest" today, which was 77.5 kgs.
"I worked so hard to get down to the lowest I could before skin removal at 173lbs, which was the smallest I'd ever been as someone who'd been overweight their entire life. Honestly I spent so many years thinking I'd never lose the weight & trying some type of diet. Regaining 100lbs & battling a rare disease happened, but since I'd seen it was possible before - I knew this time I'd find strength again to fight for my health," she mentioned.
In most of her posts, Reed mentions using the rowing machine, walking on the treadmill and using the stair climber. She has also documented the difficulty she faced doing moves including leg raises on the captain’s chair. However, she kept at it and eventually mastered it again a few months later.
She has time and again credited her nutrition for recent weight loss. While she was hospitalized, she had trouble keeping food down. “I wasn’t focused on what I was eating. I was just trying to make myself eat because I was in so much pain. I literally didn’t want to move," Reed told Today.com.
Reed prefers high-protein meals that include salmon, turkey burgers, asparagus, broccoli and cottage cheese.
In her recent post, she concluded by saying, "Just a reminder that even when everything doesnt seem like it will work out, you question your own strength & you don't know how you'll get through the storms you face - if you just keep going I promise you that anything is possible. Start today!"
