Shreyansh Mehta’s weight loss journey has been incredible. From a fat, lazy teenager whose sedentary lifestyle and bullying at school made him reach 130kg, he is now a completely changed young man.
Shreyansh says even though he always battled weight issues, the COVID-19 lockdown made him gain weight beyond his imagination. “Throughout my adolescence, I grappled with weight issues, tipping the scales at 70 kilograms by the age of 12 and peaking at 130 kilograms during the lockdown at 16,” he told Times Now.
Now 18, Shreyansh, a student of Design, says the tipping point for his was difficulty in walking, dissatisfaction with his looks, not being able to breathe consistently because of obesity, and a profound sense of discontent. “I underwent this significant transformation in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle,” he said.

How did Shreyansh lose weight?

Shreyansh says he took a structured approach to his dietary habits, taking care of all his meals and making sure he did not leave any food group. “My breakfast routine involves starting the day with a protein shake followed by black coffee 30 minutes later, accompanied by a serving of seasonal fruit. For lunch, I opt for a balanced meal comprising 150gm of grilled chicken breast, a portion of vegetable curry, two chapatis, and a side salad,” he mentioned.
However, he does not skip dinner as well. “Dinner consists of another protein shake post-workout, complemented by 300gm of chicken breast and 150gm of rice,” he elaborated.

Understand the importance of protein

Shreyansh says he understands how important protein is for those looking to lose weight. “I prioritize protein intake due to its superior satiating effect among macronutrients. I emphasize consistency over perfection in adhering to my dietary regimen, understanding that daily adherence to the plan is paramount,” he adds.

Follows consistency in exercise

Currently weighing 80 kilograms, Shreyansh has been consistent with his diet and exercise routine for over a year now. He goes to the gym five days a week where he pursues a range of high-intensity workouts like cardio and weightlifting. “In terms of exercise, I engage in an hour of cardio in the evenings and another 1-hour weightlifting session in the mornings,” he said.
