Agra: Protesters clashed with the police in Uttar Pradesh's Agra during an anti-encroachment drive on Sunday. Protesters also pelted stones at police personnel. Several cops were reportedly injured in the clash.
To control the situation, the police resorted to lathicharge to control the situation, reported NDTV. According to reports, a strip of land has been encroached by a religious group. The ant-encroachment drive has been going on for the last two days.
Sources claimed that the encroachment took place over the period of a decade. However, it is the first time that authorities have taken action against the group.

On Saturday, local authorities broke down a few structures. The authorities were escorted by the police. As per the media report, rumours surfaced that the gates have been re-erected after which the police went to the area.
There were many supporters of the group present at the spot when the police reached. Images of the vides of the clash also surfaced online. The situation is reported to be tense.
