New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court has sent Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15 in excise policy case. The Enforcement Directorate moved an application in the Rouse Avenue court seeking direction to send the Delhi CM to judicial custody and stated that further custodial interrogation, is not required at the moment.
Kejriwal was arrested by the probe agency on March 21 after two hours of questioning in the liquor policy case. He was later produced in the court and sent to ED custody till March 28.
On March 28, ED again sought the Delhi CM's custody citing that he was "not" cooperating and the court granted the same till April 1. Notably, ED has called Kejriwal the "kingpin" of the Delhi liquor policy scam in which two AAP leaders -- Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh -- are also behind bars.
Recently the agency had summoned Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot in the matter after which he appeared before the ED.
While entering the court complex, Kejriwal on Monday crticised PM Narendra Modi claiming he was not doing the right thing. "Pradhan Mantri jo kar rahe hain woh desh ke liye achha nahi hai, (What the PM is doing is not right for the country)," Kejriwal told the reporters, quoted ANI.
He has also moved an application seeking permission to carry several books including Bagwad Geeta, Ramayana and a book namely 'How Prime Ministers decide' authored by Neerja Chaudhary and to allow him to have special diet, religious locket etc.
His wife Sunita Kejriwal was also present in the court along with Delhi Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi were also present at the court on Monday.
On Sunday, Kejriwal's wife addressed the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan and made an emotional pitch to party supporters and people and also mentioned the six guarantees of the opposition alliance that Kejriwal promised from the ED's custody.
"Your very own Kejriwal has sent a message for you from custody. However, before reading out this message, I would like to ask you something. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi put my husband in custody. Do you all believe that he did the right thing? Do you believe that Kejriwal-ji is a true patriot and honest person? These BJP people are saying that since Kejriwal is in custody, he should resign. Do you all believe he should resign?" she said while reading third message from her husband.
