Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, in a blistering attack at Congress, said "Rahul Baba should explain to the country what are their alliance leaders saying". He asked "whether they are asking us to respect Pakistan or give up Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)." Slamming Jammu & Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah for his "Pakistan has atom bombs, give them respect don't demand PoK" remark, Amit Shah said, "will an Atomic power with a 130 cr population Bharat, be scared of someone and give up its right?"
Speaking regarding the situation of PoK, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "As far as PoK is concerned, it is not only the commitment of the BJP but also the commitment of the Parliament of the country. PoK is a part of India and we have rights over it. No one can deny that."
On PoK protests, Amit Shah said, "There is mismanagement there, it is their subject...but Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is ours because the entire Kashmir has merged with the Indian Union. How to take that right is India's question."
Amit Shah's remarks came after Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that "Pakistan Ne Chudiya Nhi Pehni Hui (Pakistan is not wearing bangles and also has atom bombs that will fall on us."
Abdullah made these remarks in response to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's remark, 'PoK will be merged with India'. "If the defence minister is saying it, then go ahead. Who are we to stop? But remember, they (Pakistan) are also not wearing bangles. It has atom bombs, and unfortunately, that atom bomb will fall on us," Abdullah said.
Earlier last month, the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that "considering the development taking place in India, the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will themselves demand to be with India."
In conversation with PTI reporters in West Bengal's Darjeeling, the Union Defence Minister said, "We will not have to use force to take PoK as people would say that we must be merged with India. Such demands are now coming." He emphasised that PoK "was, is, and will remain ours."
"India's power is increasing. India's prestige is increasing around the world, and our economy is fast progressing. Now our brothers and sisters in PoK will themselves demand to come with India," Singh further said.
