Chandigarh: In a shocking incident from Haryana’s Panipat, three women were allegedly raped by four unidentified men. In front of their family members, the women were raped, said the police.

The incident reportedly took place late Wednesday. The accused individuals had knives and other sharp-edged weapons on them, reported news agency PTI.

Barging into the family's house, the four accused allegedly tied the family members using ropes. Three women identified as laborers were raped while members of their families were tied, said the police.

The four accused also stole their money and jewelry.

Another incident of gang rape, looting, and murder was reported a kilometre away from the spot where the crime took place. Police suspect the same people were involved in the other incident as well.

In the other incident, an ailing woman was attacked, leading to her death, while her husband was robbed, police said.

Following a similar pattern, police suspect the accused forced their way into the couple's house and physically assaulted them. They were also robbed, and the man’s mobile phone was stolen.

Both incidents happened in the same village, according to the station house officer of the Matlauda police station in Panipat, Vijay. Police officials are still carrying out their investigations.

"A probe is underway... No arrests have been made so far," he said.
