The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections a day after marathon overnight meetings of the party's central election commitee (CEC), including one chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which began at 11 PM on Thursday at his Delhi residence and concluded at 4 AM on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from his present seat -- Varanasi. From Gujarat, BJP has announced 15 seats. Union Home Minister Amit Shah to contest from Gandhinagar and Mansukhbhai Mandaviya to contest from Porbandar.
"PM Modi to contest Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi, Union Minister Kiran Rijiju to contest from Arunachal West, BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray to contest from Andaman & Nicobar, BJP MP Tapir Gao to contest from Arunachal East, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to contest from Dibrugarh," says BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde.
