Siddaramaiah's Wife Returns MUDA Plots: BJP Calls It an 'Admission of Guilt', Demands Resignation Of Entire Cabinet
BJP intensified its criticism after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife offered to return 14 plots linked to allegations of illegal allotment, calling it an "admission of guilt." BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya demanded the resignation of the cabinet. Siddaramaiah defended the decision, claiming political conspiracy against his family.

Bengaluru: BJP has upped the ante after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife offered to return 14 plots that were given to her in the Mysuru upmarket area, six days after the MUDA case judgment. The BJP equated the offer to return the land to an "admission of guilt".
The development comes hours after the Chief Minister’s wife, in a letter to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner, had expressed her willingness to return the 14 sites, following allegations of illegalities in their allotment.
BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya demanded the resignation of the entire cabinet, saying now offering to return the land would serve no purpose.
"It serves no purpose now to return it, and Siddaramaiah himself had once said returning after investigation is an admission of guilt. He and his cabinet must resign," he said.
Earlier, the Karnataka CM, in a post on X, claimed that his wife Parvati "has returned the lands that were given in the form of compensation for the land that was seized without carrying out Muda land acquisition in Mysore."
"The people of the state also know that the Opposition parties created a false complaint and dragged my family into the controversy to create political hatred against me,” Siddaramaiah's post on X said.
“My stand was to fight without bowing down to this injustice. But my wife, who is upset with the political conspiracy going on against me, has taken a decision to return these plots, which has surprised me too,” he wrote.
“My wife, who never intervened in my four decades-long politics and was confined to her family, is a victim of the politics of hate against me and is suffering psychological torture. I am sorry. However, I respect my wife’s decision to return the plots,” Siddaramaiah tweeted.
MUDA to Reclaim Sites Following Siddaramaiah's Announcement
Shortly after Siddaramaiah's social media post, the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) stated that it will take back the sites being returned. MUDA Commissioner Raghunandan confirmed, “We won’t decline if someone returns MUDA property; we have already discussed this.”
Legal Actions in the MUDA Case
The Karnataka Lokayukta police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Siddaramaiah, following orders from a special court.
On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed charges against the Chief Minister, his wife Parvathi, and several others in connection with a money laundering case related to the land allotment issue. This action follows the ED's acknowledgment of the FIR filed by the Lokayukta.
