New Delhi: Several parts of India have been witnessing heavy rainfall over the past few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over Saurashtra and Kutch on Tuesday and then decrease thereafter.
Meanwhile, a Low-Pressure Area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal Odisha coasts. It is likely to move west-northwestwards across North Odisha and South Jharkhand during the next two days. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over East India during the next three days.
Rainfall warning over West India:
  • "Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm & lightning with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Gujarat state, north Konkan and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 19th September," the IMD stated.
  • Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Saurashtra and Kutch on September 19.
Rainfall warning over East India:
  • Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand till September 22, over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between September 20 and 22 and over Bihar between September 21 and 23.
  • Isolated very heavy rainfall is predicted over Odisha till September 21.
Northwest India:
  • Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected over Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
Rainfall warning over Northeast India:
  • "Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall activity very likely over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 19th-23rd and over Arunachal Pradesh during 20th-23rd September," the MeT Department stated.
  • Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Nagaland, Manipur on September 20 and 21 and over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya on September 21 and 22.
Rainfall warning over Central India:
  • Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Chhattisgarh till September 22.
  • Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over east Madhya Pradesh between September 21-23 and over Vidarbha and west Madhya Pradesh on September 22 and 23.
Rainfall warning over South India:
  1. Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on September 19 and 20.
  2. Similar weather conditions are likely over interior Tamil Nadu, Kerala on Wednesday.
