Nagpur: A woman allegedly died by suicide after killing her three-year-old daughter in Maharashtra's Nagpur district, police said.
A tragic incident occurred in Narkhed, about 40 km from the district headquarters, where the bodies of Kirti Rakesh Buwade (25) and her daughter Devika were discovered hanging in their home on Thursday.
The woman's husband, who works as a trackman with the Railways, found their bodies when he returned home around 4.45 p.m., as he was at work during the incident, as per PTI report.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman, who had mental health challenges, may have hanged her daughter before taking her own life, according to an official. The police have initiated an accidental death case, and they will also register a murder case against the woman in connection with her child's death.
A woman in Maharashtra's Palghar district has been arrested for strangling her newly born daughter and disposing of the body in a secluded area. The incident was discovered when ASHA workers visited the 38-year-old woman on Tuesday and noticed that her 5-year-old child was missing from home.
