Kalyan: The police have arrested a 26-year-old man on his return from Ukraine for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife in Maharashtra’s Kalyan. The 25-year-old woman killed herself after finding out that her husband had gone to Ukraine to meet the woman he was having an extramarital affair with.
The accused, Nitish Nair, used to visit the country for work where he met the woman. His deceased wife’s father, Surendra Sawant, lodged a complaint with the police, saying his daughter, Kajal, came to know about Nair’s illicit relationship in September when she found the photos of them.
His complaint further stated that his daughter objected to Nair’s affair and warned him not to visit Ukraine again.
On November 8, Nair told Kajal that he was going to the office in Mumbai, but instead he departed for Ukraine. After reaching there, he texted her to inform that he had arrived in Ukraine and would not be coming back.
The complaint claimed that the wife, depressed, hanged herself at home.
According to Kolsewadi police station officials, Kajal texted a few friends before taking her own life to let them know what she intended to do.
As per the authorities, the woman read her husband's message and told her mother about the agony she was going through.
Nair returned to India after learning of Kajal's death and was detained at his home, reported The Times Of India.
