Navdeep Singh created history at the Paralympics 2024 and became the first Indian to win a medal in the F41 javelin throw category. Navdeep clinched a gold medal at the event. He came up with his personal best throw to win the medal.

Navdeep Singh continued India's purple patch at the Paralympics 2024 and bagged a gold medal in the F41 javelin throw. The star Indian javelin thrower had initially won the silver medal. His medal was upgraded to gold after Iran's Beit Sayah's was disqualified. Navdeep came up with a best throw of 47.32m. This was also his personal best throw.
Navdeep created history and etched his name in history books the moment he initially won the silver medal as he became the first Indian javelin thrower to win a medal in the F41 category.
While India have won medals in the javelin throw, no athlete had finished on the podium in this category. Navdeep created history on Saturday (September 7) and became the first Indian to win a medal in this category.
The 23-year-old started the competition with a foul throw. He came up with a throw of 46.39m on the second attempt. Navdeep hurled the spear to a distance of 47.32m on the third attempt. His fourth throw was a foul. Navdeep breached the 46m mark again and covered a distance of 46.05m. His final throw was also a foul.
He made his Paralympics debut in Tokyo in 2021. Interestingly, he started the javelin throw after watching Neeraj Chopra in 2016. "This is my second Paralympics and we are all excited to perform well in the Paralympics...I started playing Javelin in 2016 after watching Neeraj Chopra perform well. The Indian team is performing very well at the Paralympics and it is motivating us a lot," Navdeep recently revealed.
Neeraj won a gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2024, he won a silver medal. The start javelin thrower achieved greatness in Paris by becoming the first-ever Indian to win a gold and a silver medal in individual events. Sumit Antil won a gold in the Paralympics 2024.
