The NBA finals are almost here. Dallas Mavericks will face the Boston Celtics in what is dubbed as the most anticipated matchup in NBA history.
Celtics are the Eastern Conference’s number one seed and they deservingly steamrolled all their opponents on their way to the finals. They smashed the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers in the postseason and blanked the Indian Pacers in four matches to be adjudged as the Eastern Conference champions.
Dallas got past the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder in the postseason and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-1 to lift the Western Conference title. Luka Doncic has been the architect behind Dallas’ meteoric rise this season and he alongside Kyrie Irving will seek to lay their hand on that Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time in their career.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have complimented each other well and the focus will be on them as Boston will be targeting their 18th NBA title. NBA legend Magic Johnson predicted Boston do have an edge due to the presence of some very good players in their ranks.
The five time NBA champions explained how the likes of Jrue Holiday and Derrick White can be of great importance as they will provide the necessary support to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the summit clash.
He posted on X, “Both teams have two superstars - Luka and Kyrie for the Mavs and Jayson and Jaylen for the Celtics. But overall, when you think about the edge in talent, it goes to the Celtics. They have the two next best players in the series in Jrue Holiday and Derrick White - and if Kristaps Porzingis plays, he’ll be the third!”
In another post on X Johnson also mentioned he thinks this NBA finals series could be a high-scoring game as both teams consist of some brilliant offensive players.
“It’s almost time for the NBA Finals, and I believe this will be one of the most exciting and high-scoring Finals we’ve seen in a long time because both the Celtics and the Mavs are high-powered offenses who love the run and gun style of play!”
