Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 Retention List: Ishan Kishan OUT, 3 T20 World Cup 2024 Winners IN- Report
The final deadline for all the 10 IPL teams to announce their list of retained and released players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction is on October 31 (Thursday). A team on which everyone will have their eyes on will be Mumbai Indians, with multiple superstars in the mix. IPL 2024 was not a great season for them at all. Not only did they finish last, but the captaincy change raised several rumours of players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav leaving the franchise. Now, it looks like MI are likely to retain most of their Team India superstars.
Rohit, Hardik, SKY, Bumrah Retained
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Mumbai Indians are all set to retain Rohit Sharma. This is despite heavy rumours that he would leave the franchise after a reported fallout with te team management after Hardik Pandya replaced him as the captain. Pandya, being the skipper, is also set to be retained by the five-time IPL winners. He would hope to lead the franchise to a much better finish than what they did last season.
Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are the two other Team India superstars who will be retained by the record IPL champions. On the other hand, Tilak Varma is also set to be their fifth capped retention ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. For the uncapped slot, MI are set to retain Naman Dhir.
Retaining 6 players would mean Rs 79 crore would be deducted from their IPL 2025 auction purse. Hence, they would be going into the auction with Rs 41 crore to fill in the remaining slots.
Ishan Kishan To Be Released
With their 6 retentions in place, Mumbai Indians are all set to release Ishan Kishan ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. As they would retain six players, Mumbai Indians would not have any Right to Match card left, heading into the auction. Hence, if they want to take Ishan Kishan, they need to bid for him at the auction.
