The Indian team, captained by Rohit Sharma maintained their strong performance at home and more importantly bolstered their chances of clinching a top position in the World Test Championship standings with their victory over Bangladesh in the second Test in Kanpur on Sunday.
Following the match, they received a warm reception upon their return to the team hotel. As the players and management entered, they were met with a resounding round of applause, recognizing their efforts to secure a victory despite facing challenging conditions with rain and a wet outfield for two days.
In this 7-wicket victory, the bowlers built on the outstanding performance of the Indian batsmen on Day 4 by bowling out Bangladesh for just 146 runs in their second innings during the first session. The target was 95 and the Indians did it with ease.
Attention now turns to the T20I series, where India and Bangladesh will face off in a three-match contest starting on October 6 in Gwalior.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already unveiled the 15-man squad for the upcoming matches, with Suryakumar Yadav continuing as the captain.
Noteworthy in the squad is the inclusion of several uncapped players, such as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav, who have been selected for the three-match series.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who have been rested, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will take charge of leading the fast-bowling attack.
Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson has been selected as wicket-keepers for the series but most likely Samson will get the nod ahead of Sharma as the first-choice under captain SKY.
The first T20I is scheduled for October 6 in Gwalior, with the remaining two matches to be held on October 9 in New Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad.
India T20I Side: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, JItesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav.
