Star Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been in red-hot form these days, has jumped 14 places in the latest ICC Men’s Test batters ranking. Thanks to his career-best 214-run knock in the second innings of the third Test against England in Rajkot, the 22-year-old Jaiswal has moved to No. 15 in the ICC Test rankings, which were released on Wednesday (February 21). He has 699 rating points.
Jaiswal is the fourth-highest-ranked Indian batter in the Test rankings, which is led by legendary New Zealand batter Kane Williamson. Batting superstar Virat Kohli, who is not playing in the ongoing five-match series between India and England due to the birth of his second child, is India’s highest-ranked Test batter. He is in the seventh position with 752 rating points.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who scored 131 runs in the first innings of the third Test against England, has jumped one place to reach 12th position. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has been out of action for more than a year now, is the third-highest-ranked Indian batter in Test rankings. With 706 rating points, he sits above Jaiswal in 14th place.
In the bowlers rankings, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah retained his No. 1 position (876 rating points) in the ICC Test rankings, and Ravichandran Ashwin has moved to No. 2 position. The 37-year-old spinner, who became the second Indian bowler to take 500+ wickets in Tests during the third Test against England in Rajkot, has 839 rating points.
Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Rajkot Test, and that helped him gain three spots in the Test bowler’s ranking. The 35-year-old cricketer, who is the world No. 1 Test all-rounder, is also the world No. 6 Test bowler now.
England batter Joe Root has slipped two positions and is now ranked at No. 5, but opener Ben Duckett has moved to No. 13 after scoring 154 runs in the first innings of the third Test against India.
