In Euro 2024, England faced Denmark in their second Group C match at Frankfurt Arena Stadium, Frankfurt. The Three Lions had the opportunity to secure their place in the round of 16 but missed it, ending the match in a 1-1 draw. Fans in the stadium experienced a lackluster outing as Gareth Southgate’s side narrowly avoided an embarrassing loss.
However, fans outside the stadium seemed to enjoy themselves more than those watching the match. In a viral video circulating on social media, England supporters were seen balancing a full beer cup on the head of a man who had fallen asleep.
The man, bald and dressed in a blue Three Lions jersey, dozed off on a step outside a restaurant in Frankfurt, Germany. This happened at 2:30 PM (local time) yesterday (June 20), three and a half hours before the kickoff of England’s second Euro 2024 Group C match.
A group of Three Lions fans gathered around him and placed a plastic beer cup on his head. They then took turns slowly pouring some of their drinks into it. The supporters chanted "He's got a pint glass on his head," but it didn't wake him up. Eventually, the beer cup fell off as he continued sleeping outside the Zum Standes?mtchen restaurant in one of the city's squares.
The video was recorded by a fan on his mobile phone. Many fans commented that it was more entertaining than watching Gareth Southgate’s men draw against Denmark.
Meanwhile, captain Harry Kane put England in the lead in the 18th minute of the game, marking his fourth consecutive goal for the Three Lions in major tournaments. However, England allowed Denmark to control the game and dominate play. Denmark equalized in the 34th minute thanks to a brilliant strike from Morten Hjulmand, who scored past Jordan Pickford.
England midfielder Phil Foden hit the post but couldn't regain the lead. Even Southgate’s triple substitution in the 69th minute didn’t change the outcome, and they had to settle for a draw.
